D-Day at 80 – Music, Dinner & Beacon Lighting

D-Day at 80 – Thursday 6th June 2024 – 7.00pm start

To mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the culmination of Operation Overlord, we will be hosting an evening including:

  • Prosecco reception accompanied by the Military Wives Choir
  • Three course dinner with Sir Winston Churchill (AKA as Steve) providing a rousing speech
  • Beacon Lighting at the Spire
  • Dance the rest of the evening away with Lincolnshire’s very own Blighty Belles,

Bomber Command’s role in the operations supporting D-Day was pivotal.  During Operation Overlord the Command undertook multiple operations to target ammunitions factories and distribution channels, took out gun placements that would have threatened the success of the final push and, on the day, flew operations such as Glimmer, Taxable and Millennium to divert Nazi attention away from the Normandy beaches.
