Accessible for All

The IBCC has been designed to be accessible for all ages and all levels of mobility and impairment.

Access – Pedestrian and vehicle

  • Easy access to the site from the B1131 Canwick Avenue
  • Parking is available for cars, motorcycles and coaches, including disabled parking
  • Bicycle storage
  • Limited mobility drop-off point at the front door
  • Paths are suitable for limited mobility and wheelchair use
  • Pedestrian access from Viking Way and Canwick Hill (next to bus stop) – these entrances have a series of low rise steps

General Information

  • The reception/shop counter has a low access area and hearing loop
  • Concessions for paying exhibitions are available for disabled visitors. A companion ticket is also provided free of charge.  Tickets can be booked in advance by clicking here
  • Families and carers of those with spectrum-related disorders are welcome to come and see the venue and meet the team prior to booking.  To arrange please email info@internationalbcc.co.uk
  • Our quietest times of the day are 09.30 to 10.30 and 16.00 to 17.00
  • Sensory planting within the gardens
  • All event areas are fully wheelchair accessible with ramps or slopes for the marquee and the amphitheatre.
  • Please be aware that the Jubilee Grove is situated on a grassy slope and so we advise those with limited mobility to look at the Grove from the Front Lawn or International Peace Garden.

  • Our staff are trained in Age Friendly, Dementia and Autism awareness and we hold an Age-Friendly Award.

The Exhibition

  • AA-rated exhibition with subtitling and Hearing Loop
  • Large print guide available for the exhibitions
  • Translations are available in a range of languages.
  • Please be aware that the Operation Bomber Command Gallery does contain many audio exhibits and a large screen presentation.  We recommend those with noise sensitivities use some ear protection.  The presentation also has some low-level flashing imagery.

The Hub Café

  • The Hub Café has a low access counter, tables that are suitable for use with wheelchairs, a hearing loop and high contrast tableware
  • Our menus can cater for a variety of dietary needs.  If you have specific needs please email info@internationalbcc.co.uk

For Our Canine Guests

  • Dogs are welcome and can accompany visitors throughout all areas of the site. We welcome well-behaved dogs everywhere on the site with the exception of the exhibition (the light and sound may startle your furry friend).  Please keep dogs on short leads at all times
  • Water bowls are available for dogs at various points around the centre
