The multi award-winning International Bomber Command Centre is looking for an exceptional and enthusiastic person to join its team. The Centre has attracted over 370,000 visitors since opening in Spring 2018 and has risen to be one of the best rated attractions in the area.
The IBCC are looking for an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Operations Manager to join the team and look to drive the business forward, whilst maintaining our hard-won reputation for excellence. The Operations Manager reports directly to the CEO and is an integral part of this small but vitally important team. The IBCC not only has a Memorial, gardens and exhibitions but runs a busy café operation and a full programme of events and corporate hospitality.
This role would provide a great opportunity to develop your career in the tourism and heritage industry, playing a key role in the team and taking ownership of the Centre with full support of the CEO and Board.
This role will work across our Centre and will provide variety, a great opportunity to develop your experience and skills as the leader of a fantastic team of staff and volunteers.
The centre is open 6 days a week – Tuesday to Sunday (except Bank Holidays) and standard opening hours are 9.30 – 5.00. Occasional events would require cover out of hours. We are closed for a week over Christmas each year.
Requirements:
- Strong administrative skills including the ability to compile reports, both financial and others
- Experience of managing small teams including HR documentation and processes
- A proven background in customer services and retail, preferably within a visitor attraction
- The successful candidate should hold, or be willing to obtain a Personal Licence, covering alcohol sales. The costs for obtaining a licence will be covered by the IBCC

Visitor Experience Manager, Learning Officers, Site Manager, Collections Archivist, Head Chef, Events Manager.
What we ask from you:
- Maintain and improve our profit margins across the business, working in conjunction with the heads of department
- Manage and maintain site contracts working with the Site Manager
- Manage and maintain accurate reports across the business
- Have good IT skills and an understanding of how to present data in a logical and clear fashion
- Ensure the site’s compliance with all relevant Government legislation and facilitate inspections
- Have an understanding of GDPR and ensure compliance
- Act as a key holder and follow opening and closing schedules
- Support the staff and volunteer team in delivering their roles
- Manage all HR related elements for direct reports and support heads of departments with their teams.
- Ensure training needs are met for staff and volunteer development
- Promote and maintain a professional, flexible and positive attitude to the project
- Identify and seek to solve issues in an innovative and creative way
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have strong interpersonal and people management skills
- Work collaboratively with senior management, staff, volunteers and external partners
- Maintain the ethos of top-quality customer service and professionalism across the business
In addition to the above, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

Salary: £30,000.00 to £34,000.00 /year
