Michael was born in Hammersmith, London, England on 8 December 1913. His father was born in France and was a Civil Engineer living in Dorset, and his mother was born in London, England and had lived in Richmond, Surrey. The family had moved to Canada and made their home in Toronto. He attended Vineyard Public school 1920-1926 and then Hove College, 1926-1930. His sport interests were hockey, baseball and swimming and had worked in fabric, sheet metal and wood as hobbies. He had worked for Harvey & Son in harness and tent making between 1934-1940 and also in Tanning for Fred Chovey, 1936-1940. He worked periodically between the two firms. |
He enlisted on 29 May 1940 and after training was sent to the U.K. Embarking from Canada on 8 August 1942 he then went on to 3PRC 19 August 1942, 7 AGS 23 September 1942, 1659 CU 28 October 1942, and 405 Squadron 25 November 1942. Michael sadly lost his life the following month on 20 December 1942. |
