Reason for Loss | Attacked the target at 14:15 hrs from 15000' onto red markers. Hit by flak both before and after bombing, damaging port outer engine and the mid-upper gun turret and fatally wounding the mid-upper gunner. Landed at RAF Tangmere in an effort to get urgent medical assistance for Sgt Palmer but sadly he died the next day in hospital. |
