A memorial to the crew and the lorry driver was erected in 1996. This was arranged by Alun Emlyn-Jones, the crew's air bomber, who missed the flight due to appendicitis |

Reason for Loss | The weather was misty and the aircraft struck the very top of Garrowby Hill near York, crashing across a road and carrying a passing milk lorry with it. Sadly, the driver was also killed. His name was Arthur Wood Kirkby and he was 39 years of age. |
