Miscellaneous Information
Aircraft was known as 'Q for Queenie' despite having call sign -A. It had in fact been named Elizabeth after a visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to the Avro factory in Yeadon. The aircraft named George at the same time, R5489, was delivered to 44 Squadron but crashed on its approach to RAF Waddington on 16 August 1942. |
