IBCC Book Festival – Women in War

Women in War Book Festival 14-15th March 2025

To mark the unveiling of our new Women in War exhibition at the Memorial Spire, we are delighted to welcome a host of fabulous female authors for our inaugural book festival.  The Women in War exhibition features 9 steel silhouettes of incredible women created by the team from Standing With Giants who were responsible for the stunning D-Day display in Normandy in 2024.

The Festival takes place over two days and features a variety of themed sessions:

A Proud Generation – Friday – 10 – 12pm

An audience with Candy Adkins – daughter of Jackie Moggeridge, ATA member and the UK’s first female commercial airline pilot and

Liz McElwee, daughter of Flt Lt George Milson DFC, a POW.  Ticket price of £10.00 includes a complimentary tea or coffee.

Writers of War – Friday – 4 – 6pm

Panel discussion with authors Jane Gulliford-Lowe, Clare Mulley, Jeannie Benjamin and Sarah-Louise Miller.  Chaired by Suzanne Raine, IBCC Trustee and modern giant. Ticket price of £10.00 includes a complimentary tea or coffee.

The Kids’ War – Saturday – 10 – 12pm

Holocaust survivor and author, Peter Lantos joins us for this free interactive session for families.

The Home Front – Saturday -2 -4pm

Hosted by Lincolnshire Chef, passionate gardener and author, Rachel Green, this afternoon tea and talk will feature stories from the home front including from the Women’s Institute.  Rachel will work with the IBCC Chefs to create a delicious selection of tempting treats, all served on vintage crockery. Tickets at £25.00.

Tours –

These sessions will be interspersed by free tours of the Memorial, Exhibition and Peace Gardens with our team of lady Tour Guides
