“A huge thank you from the veterans and from 103 and 576 squadrons who attended the unveiling on Friday. The whole event was superbly organised. Everything was carried out with dignity. A fitting tribute to all who served with Bomber Command.”

Lack of Moral Fibre in Bomber Command – Wednesday 28 June 2017 7-9.00pm

University of Lincoln – Riseholme Campus Conference Centre, Lincoln, LN2 2LG

Cases of LMF were rare, but there are stories of men being humiliated in front of their squadron as their “wings” were ripped off.  It was a deterrent to others, and the fear of LMF or letting the crew down could be greater than the fear of death.  This panel will address the history of LMF, how the stresses of flying were treated differently by the RAF and the USAAF, and whether LMF fits within today’s diagnosis of PTSD.

All three panel members made a study of LMF at post graduate level at University.  Dr Dan Ellin is the IBCC’s Archive and Exhibition Curator, David Stubbs flew over 6,000 hours when he was in the RAF and is now an independent Air Power historian.  Our third guest is a serving RAF Officer – all will be revealed at the lecture!
