Catering Supervisor

We have a great opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced catering supervisor to be responsible for all aspects of supporting the management for the high level of delivery and expectations within the new IBCC cafe and hospitality areas assisting the Catering Manager and Cook. You should be ambitious and commercially aware, with the presence and personality to influence the day-to-day business, you’ll maximise the performance of your team. Leading by example and setting high standards, you’ll enhance sales and provide our customers with great service.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the delivery of food and beverage services at the IBCC in the absence of the Catering Manager. To take ownership and maintain the quality of service from your team. To ensure that the café & hospitality service is operated and managed in a manner that meets the overall catering strategy of IBCC in terms of an efficient, profitable and high-quality customer focused service to visitors and users of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility 1
To support the Catering Manager in managing the café & hospitality catering operations to ensure a retail focus is applied that delivers the service expected by visitors.
Key Responsibility 2
To support the Catering Manager in leading and motivating a team of volunteer hospitality assistants to achieve excellent standards of service.
Key Responsibility 3
To maintain a high profile within the café & hospitality areas during service, acting as a first point of contact for any customer enquiries or complaints
Key Responsibility 4
To support the Catering Manager in ensuring the effective planning and organisation of staff deployment including staff rotas, ensuring all shifts are covered.
Key Responsibility 5
To ensure that the designated café & hospitality areas are fully stocked and well presented to the customer.
Key Responsibility 6
To oversee the correct operation of cash registers with particular responsibility for cash reconciliation in line with IBCC procedures and financial regulations.
Key Responsibility 7
To be responsible for Health & Safety issues related to food safety, Allergen information, maintaining a safe working environment, with particular reference to all staff wearing correct safety clothes and footwear.
Key Responsibility 8
Respond to visitor feedback where appropriate.  This is particularly relevant to dealing with on-site complaints and issues.  Complete an accurate record of the situation and ensure that the complaint and the method used for resolution are included.  Use these records to update staff training programmes

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required by the Catering Manager

The ideal candidate will have:

  •  Will have previous supervisory experience, ideally in a café
  • Sound knowledge of Hygiene, Health and Safety
  • Standards and quality driven management style
  • Motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
  • Interpersonal, administrative and organisational skills
  • Good management skills
  • Willing to work weekends

The successful candidate should hold, or be willing to obtain a Personal Licence, covering alcohol sales.

Salary c. £17,340 pa
